As Fiona Lee’s debut release, the album was recorded during the early days of her auditory journey between 2011 and 2016. The arrangement of the 7 pieces display the interaction of field recordings with electronic music. Audience could learn about how she listens in daily life, performances and sound installations. “Walking in a daze” refers to the state of her listening habits. By mixing soft noise and field recordings, the album expresses emotions and feelings on different spaces and personal memories.
This clip is mixed and edited with two field recordings of different locations and moments. It marks the beginning of my auditory journey.
– The crackling sound was created by a huge amount of firewood while they were dried in an open area in South Aso, Kyushu, Japan in 2011.
– The buzzing sound of cicadas was recorded in Lanyu, Taiwan in 2013.

Electromagnetic soundwaves emitted by different kinds of electronic devices, such as wifi-routers, CD-Players and Wacom drawing tablets are mixed with the sound of vehicles passing by.

This clip involves the mixing of two field recordings. One of them was recorded at Kaitak Cruise Terminal in June 2015.
I was listening to the sound of rising and falling wind which came from a manhole. The wind was caused by the undulating sea waves under the platform.
The second field recording took place during the Umbrella Movement in 2014. I was listening to every manhole cover placed on the ground by protestors inside the Lung Wo Road Tunnel to block roads.

Site-specific performance @ the Circular Staircase in Foo Tak Building (Wan Chai)
I utilized the sound of water dripping from the top of the building to the ground floor staircase. A radio was fixed hanging on the fishing rod, which was rolled up and down between different floors. The sound of the water dripping is transmitted to this radio. Through this setting and my interruption of the water drops, the audience can experience the relationship between gravity, time, interval and space.
Moreover, the stair railing is used as a percussion instrument during the performance to reveal echoes of the space and its harmonic tone.

This performance involves fluorescent light bulbs, a modular synthesizer and a circular magnet rotating in a glass bowl, driven by electromagnetic fields generated by a vortex coil.

A field recording documented using hydrophones in Sai Wan, Sai Kung, Hong Kong. The piece is mixed with sounds from a modular synthesizer.
